A chain is the simplest necklace and the one with the most to say. Wear a single chain as a clean line, or pair a fine one with a heavier one for contrast. Many adjust in length, and several pair with a matching chain bracelet for a set that looks considered.

Chokers sit at about 12 to 17 inches, and most adjustable chains offer two or three lengths between 16 and 18 inches. Lariats are longer, up to 64 inches. For layering, pick lengths about two inches apart.
